Do Members have to buy things for AGLOCO to succeed?

This is the answer from AGLOCO:

In every economic system trade must occur or it will fail. AGLOCO is no exception. Companies will not want to partner with (or advertise with) AGLOCO if it is not profitable for them. So they will measure the results of their partnering/advertising with AGLOCO and if it is not profitable they will stop. This is one of the great things about Google, Yahoo, Ask etc. Ads on their systems work. People click on some of the ads and then some of them go on to buy. This will also be true for AGLOCO. While no individual Member need be a specific buyer, as a group the AGLOCO Membership needs to be worth advertising to in order for AGLOCO to succeed.

What is the latest on the Ask searches?

I got the following e-mail a short time ago and thought you might be interested...

These are exciting times for the company. The Ask search portion of the Ask/AGLOCO agreement went live earlier this week. We anticipate this quickly becoming AGLOCO's largest revenue source.

As the Members who have downloaded and installed the AGLOCO Viewbar software know, the Viewbar has internet search capabilities built right in. The most recent release of the Viewbar is programmed with Ask as the default search provider.

Ask searches that you start from your Viewbar work just like any web search, except that AGLOCO earns a share of the revenue when ads are clicked by Members. If you search the internet during the day (who doesn't?), you should try originating all of your searches from the Viewbar. (Please note: do not use excessive ad clicking on the Viewbar or Ask search results. Click fraud is against AGLOCO Member rules and Members caught in this activity will be terminated.)

When are we going to start getting paid by AGLOCO?

I got this note today and thought you all might be interested...

Great news... We can expect an announcement this week about the first payment distributions for our view bar hours!

Don’t expect too big of a payout this first time. What we want to see is a progressive increase over the next 12 months. I’d like to see it reach 50 cents an hour by this time next year; however, I don’t expect anything close to that now. They’re just getting started.

I don’t care so much where the payments start out at as long as they start… and keep growing as their revenue increases each month.

This is outstanding news. There is still time to build your referral-network in the early stages of this company.

Remember, it takes time for REAL companies to get built if they’re going to be huge. Yahoo and Google took years. As long as we see progression forward, be excited because it means this is real.

Ask.com will become AGLOCO's offical default search provider

Here is some recent information about Ask.com. According to the August 14, 2007 report of the University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Ask rates right with Yahoo and Google in customer satisfaction - Ask 75, Yahoo 79 and Google 78.

Also, ForeSee Results added that, “Ask has had the biggest increase of any e-business company measured by the ACSI, up 21% since it was first measured… Ask.com seems to be well-positioned to rival Google in the coming years because it has a strong search technology lauded by analysts and users alike.”

This is a very important step for AGLOCO. It is their first major revenue partnership and should greatly improve earnings starting in October.

What does AGLOCO say about members in other countries?

This is the info I found on the AGLOCO website:

Currently AGLOCO treats all countries worldwide on an equal basis: all Members can accumulate up to a maximum of five hours a month of Viewbar™ usage. Referrals will also be accrued with a five hour limit. If shares are issued they will issued at one share per hour for Member hours and one quarter share for each referral hour.

AGLOCO reserves the right to change these rates at any time for any country on a country by country basis.

Country Specific Restrictions
Currently AGLOCO is open for membership to anyone worldwide. However, due to different regulatory requirements in each country, it may become necessary for AGLOCO to restrict certain countries from Viewbar™ downloads or Viewbar™ use.

In some countries, for member participation, AGLOCO may have to qualify for share issuance prior to offering shares to Members. In all countries prior to share issuance, Members' hours will be accrued and shares issued when the AGLOCO board of directors approves them.

Some countries may be too small or legal requirements too complicated for shares to be issued to Members in that country. (As a Member owned company it may not be prudent to incur the excess expenses for all Members, in order to distribute shares in the countries so affected). In this case, AGLOCO reserves the right to exchange hours for cash, once there is a public market for AGLOCO stock.

What are the latest revenue and tech updates from from AGLOCO?

Here are the latest updates from the AGLOCO web site:

Revenue – We are near completion with one of two improved revenue agreements. These should be implemented in August. They should greatly enhance September’s revenue in search and North American ad revenue. We are also in negotiations with one European network, to improve revenue there. We are in need of better networks in China, Brazil, India, Korea and Japan. We also need a network in the Middle East. If any Member has any leads on those, please post your ideas in the comment section.

Tech Update The tech team reported that the fix to the August hours will be occurring on Thursday the 9th. Until that time the display will not show correct August hours. The last three weeks have consumed our tech team with server improvements – this did not go as the team had anticipated with load balancing problems at the ISP. This should be resolved shortly and they can get back to the other pressing needs of AGLOCO. As we change to improved servers the AGLOCO website will be down for a period of time (the amount of time will depend on where in the world the Member is that is trying to reach the site). People will see a notice page saying we are doing maintenance. Projects like updating the website and emails to all Members will then be attended to.

How are the AGLOCO cash payments going to work?

Here is the response from AGLOCO:

So, here are three of the potential ways AGLOCO can pay Members. As you know, when you use the Viewbar you accumulate hours (currently up to 5 hours/month, and plus a credit of referral hours at a 25% rate). These hours, both your monthly totals and your overall accumulated hours, are the basis for cash distributions.

Monthly Viewbar hours: Based on the hours you and your referrals surf each month, you will get a share of the “distribution pie”. Your share is equal to your percentage of the total hours accumulated by all Members (including referral hours). How would this work? Here is a hypothetical example. Suppose in a given month AGLOCO distributes $100,000 for that month’s hour accumulation. Also suppose that the total hours all Members have accumulated that month is 1,000,000 hours. This means that AGLOCO would pay $0.10 for each hour you are credited with that month. So in this example if you had accumulated (yourself plus referrals) 500 hours that month, you would be paid $50.

Total Viewbar hours: AGLOCO may also pay in the same manner as above based on total accumulated hours. This would “weight” the payment more towards those Members who joined and began accumulating hours earlier (including the time before the cash payouts have begun).

Do I need to have the Viewbar up all the time?

No! Currently AGLOCO™ will reward up to five hours a month in Viewbar time. Above that limit, you can keep your Viewbar displayed or minimize it at any time, though most of the Members choose to keep it up. If you don’t want your Viewbar to operate at any specific time, just minimize it and it will stop working. However, you will not earn online hours while your Viewbar is minimized.

Your AGLOCO Viewbar is ready to download

Well, yesterday I got an email saying "Your AGLOCO Viewbar is ready to download." Everyone must be trying to download it, so I keep getting "Problem loading page." I know it is just a matter of time until I can download it, but it is frustrating. I signed up with AGLOCO in November 2006, and I still don't have the toolbar installed!

Any more updates on the Viewbar?

I was reading the company blog this morning, and here is the latest update on the AGLOCO toolbar:

...as soon as we are able to finish integrating the ad servers (which has unfortunately taken much longer than expected), we will begin our full-scale release. The current integration issues are coming from the ad server side, but we are having to adjust the Viewbar to compensate for this. We are working with our partners to correct this last remaining issue so the Viewbar can be released. Every day I keep my fingers crossed that it will be the day the ad server integration is completed so that AGLOCO can finally move into the next phase of business.
